Margan developed the Quantitative Acoustic Emission (QAE) Non Destructive
Inspection (NDI) technology. The QAE NDI is about to revolutionize the way
power stations inspect their High Energy Piping (HEP) and other critical plant
components for cracks and other type of flaws.
QAE NDI is capable of inspecting the HEP during operation, locating flaws,
Identify their type, quantitatively assessing their stress intensity (danger
level), and monitoring the dynamics of their development. All this is done in
less than 20% of the current NDI cost. QAE NDI bridges the gap between
emerging conflicting needs of the aging power industry, to cut maintenance
costs and at the same time intensifying the inspection of their HEP.
The company was incorporated around a group of scientists who developed the core
of the QAE NDI technology. Margan completed the development and successfully
applied it to a variety of structures. These included pressure vessels,
reactors, pipelines, industrial buildings after trauma, and bridges and
tunnels. As of 1999, the company has been focusing on the inspection of HEP in
fossil power stations. The QAE NDI was launched to the U.S market in 2000 and
the monitoring system on 2002. Ever since, dozens of lines were inspected and
numerous monitoring systems were installed.
